A little on me..
I have always been heavily influenced by visual images and the visual life we all live in. Since a child I drew pictures, made things, got messy with paints, glue, fabric, sticky tape...Anything! Just name it ...so I approached learning as a more hands on thing...well that's how I at least felt more at ease at doing. So it came to no surprise to me that art and design was my strongest subject throughout secondary school therefore opting to do a BA Hons degree in General Illustration (narrowed down after attending a foundation diploma in art and design)seemed the right decision for me. I developed academically as we'll as on a personal level expressing through my art works I became a more confident practitioner and the degree was a route that I am thankful to have chosen. I then later realised how prominent fashion was as a source of inspiration and upon realising this, I increasingly began to research both consciously and subconsciously with a clear direction. Work of influential designers throughout the eras and movements in art, fashion and design triggered a passion in me to learn and find out more theoretically and from this I decided on my next academic challenge. Academically, writing has never ever been a strong quality of mine and still is not...however opting to do a masters degree Investigating Fashion Design purely theory lead to my surprise did not scare me...it speared me on! I was full of excitement and on completing the course gained a great deal of satisfaction. It was an exciting and unique experience. My excitement in the subject areas is a quality I hope to transfer to my students the level that I have studied also determined what level of teaching I would like to work towards. Decoding information is something I want to influence others to investigate...reasoning why things are what they seem? Or not? Questioning, being intelligent about their choice making and reasoning why they have chosen in that way. My aspiration to teach is equally a experience I am looking forward to getting started
